Julie Demet is a poet, bookseller, and freelance editor based in the Midwest. She holds a degree in English Literature from McGill University and completed a fellowship at the 2026 Los Angeles Review of Books Publishing Workshop. Her poetry often explores ecology, mythology, folklore, and interiority. She has been published in various literary magazines and serves as a poetry reader for West Trade Review.
Julie is available for copyediting and proofreading on fiction and nonfiction book manuscripts. As a children's bookseller with a background in early-childhood education, she brings a deep knowledge of children's literature to her freelance practice. With this expertise, she offers developmental editing on picture book, early reader, middle grade, and young adult manuscripts. Please see the "editorial services" page for more information. Out of respect for the written word and for the artistic and intellectual property of her clients, Julie does not use AI in her editing practice.
